All the basics of traditional coal-forge blacksmithing will be covered: lighting and managing a forge fire\, basic operations (including forge welding)\, and metallurgy and its application to tool making. Suggested projects include a gate hook\, a trivet\, and a chisel\, but participants are encouraged to pursue their interest in their own projects. NOTE: Hard shoes and long pants are required for student safety.
