Saratoga's All American Celebration to feature live broadcast of US Citizenship Ceremony

SARATOGA SPRINGS – The July 4, 2019, version of Saratoga’s All American Celebration will as always culminate with an amazing Fireworks display created by Santore’s World Famous Fireworks, at approximately 9:15 p.m. One of the best places to view this July 4th Fireworks is from the Spring Street parking lot, in downtown Saratoga Springs.

From 6:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. in the Spring Street parking lot, the Audiostars will perform on the Saratoga All American Celebration’s main stage. A reading of the Declaration of Independence by Benjamin Franklin takes place on this stage right before the Fireworks begin. The concert and fireworks are expected to attract more than 10,000 people to downtown Saratoga Springs.

The celebration of Independence Day, in Saratoga Springs, starts at 9:00 a.m., on July 4th, with nearly 4,000 runners taking part in the Firecracker 4 road race down Broadway and through local city streets in one of the most vibrant downtowns in the US. There is also a ½ Mile Sparkler Kid’s Fun Run at 10:50 a.m. down Broadway.

New this year, Saratoga’s All American Celebration will feature a 10:00 a.m. live broadcast online of the US Citizenship Ceremony hosted annually, at the Saratoga National Historical Park. Twenty individuals will take the Oath of Allegiance to become US Citizens at this ceremony organized by the National Park Service and US Citizenship and Immigration Services. A giant television screen will be setup in the Saratoga Springs City Center for people to watch this event from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

“Our hope is many of the people running the Firecracker 4 and the spectators who are there to cheer them on will join us to watch this ceremony after they cross the finish line as part of a race after-party,” said Todd Shimkus. “This is an incredible collaboration between the Chamber, Firecracker 4, the Saratoga National Park, the City Center, CMI AV and Bigler Studios. There will be food, drinks, and American flags for people to wave during this special community celebration.”

This Citizenship Day ceremony will also feature a speech by Vitaliy Volpov, an Associate with Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP. Mr. Volpov and his family immigrated to the Capital Region from Belarus when he was twelve years old. The entire program will be broadcast online on the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/saratoga.chamber/

During the day, local retailers will be taking part in a special Independents Week celebration inviting people to shop local and to support local independent store owners. Local restaurants will also offer a range of “All American” Meal deals.

On Wednesday, July 3rd, at 7:00 p.m., at the Holiday Inn, families and individuals can gather for a fire-side chat with General Burgoyne. This event is free and all attendees get s’mores and the chance to take photos with the General. The Saratoga Casino Hotel also has fireworks and live music at its Jefferson Street location, on Wednesday, July 3rd.

Everyone is invited to purchase an official Saratoga All American Celebration t-shirt at Impressions of Saratoga and Dark Horse Saratoga, both on Broadway, now through July 5th. Proceeds from the sale of these t-shirts will help to fund the fireworks and entertainment. The Chamber is urging people to buy these patriotic t-shirts before Independence Day and to wear them on July 4th.

The Saratoga County Foundation, a nonprofit charitable arm of the Saratoga County Chamber, is managing Saratoga’s All American Celebration this year. This special event would not be possible without the support of our major sponsors including: The Adirondack Trust Company, Druther’s, Amsure and Bigler Studios. Financial support for this celebration was also provided by: Ben & Jerry’s of Saratoga; Cantina Restaurant, Saratoga National Bank, the Saratoga Springs Special Assessment District and the Wesley Community.

“We so very much appreciate the support of these sponsors who have each helped to ensure this community event will continue for at least another year,” said Shimkus. “We’re still adding information about the program so everyone is invited to visit www.saratoga.org/tourism/4th-of-july/ to get more details and updated information about the 2019 Saratoga All American Celebration.”
