8th Annual Giant Pumpkinfest returns to Saratoga Springs

Join the Saratoga County community for a day of family, friendly fun celebrating this region's agricultural industry

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 8th Annual Giant Pumpkinfest on Saturday, September 24, 2022, in downtown Saratoga Springs. Over the years, this family friendly event has become a Saratoga County staple, celebrating the kickoff to the Fall season and our local and regional agricultural community.

“What better way to welcome Fall to our beautiful region than with a day of fun activities and a bit of friendly competition?” said Todd Shimkus, president, Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. “We’re excited to welcome back families, out-of-town visitors, and the local agriculture community to downtown Saratoga Springs to see just how heavy some of these pumpkins end up being.”

Growers from across New York State and the Northeast will gather in Saratoga Springs to compete for the title of “Biggest Pumpkin of Year” along with additional categories and prizes.

The event, held at the Saratoga Springs City Center parking garage, kicks off with the official weigh off beginning at 10 a.m.. With the Saratoga Farmers’ Market a short walk away on High Rock Avenue, attendees can also enjoy food and other offerings from local businesses.

Along with the usual festivities, this year, the Chamber will introduce a new addition to Pumpkinfest – a Pumpkin Drop. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., the public will have a chance to watch as large pumpkins are dropped from four stories off of the side of the City Center parking garage onto a concrete sidewalk.

“Pumpkinfest has become a Saratoga Springs tradition, and we’re excited to continue introducing new, fun activities as part of the event,” said Shimkus. “A huge thank you to our sponsors for helping to make Pumpkinfest possible, and to the local growers who continue to amaze us with the bounteous produce grown right here in our region.”
