ANCHORS AWEIGH PODCAST AIMS TO MAKE BOATING MORE ACCESSIBLE
-Local Business Owner bringing visibility to Lake George-
Lake George, NY. March 27th, 2017 – Anchors Aweigh, a podcast for boaters from aspiring to experienced, has just been released and is available to listeners for subscription in iTunes as well as Google. Anchors Aweigh features in-depth conversations with boating experts leaders discussing their experiences on the water, new gear and equipment, manufacturing trends, boating destinations, and more! From the shores of Lake George the podcast is bringing visibility to the area with top industry experts reaching a national audience.

As owner of Freedom Boat Club Lake George and operator of Beckley’s Marina, podcast host Matt O’Hara has seen firsthand the positive effects that boating can have on boaters and their families. Matt feels there is an opportunity through the information discussed in the podcast to increase the pleasure of the boating experience by having more informed boaters, as well as to make boating feel more accessible to those not on the water yet.

“One of the main goals of the podcast is to attract people to boating that may perceive it to be out of their reach. Speaking with these amazing guests about how they learned to boat and their advice for people considering joining the boating lifestyle has been a major force in breaking down those imagined barriers to entry.”

Recent episodes have featured John Giglio, CEO, Freedom Boat Club; Barry Slade, VP of International Sales, Regal Boats; Betty Bauman, Founder/CEO, Ladies Let’s Go Fishing; and David Karpinski, President, Taylor Made Products, a local company based out of Gloverville, NY. Mr. Karpinski discussed his love affair with boating that began on the Great Sacandaga Lake.

On his inspiration for launching the podcast Matt says, “I was trying to find a podcast I could listen to on my commute to and from the marina that would enable me to grow as a marine professional, stay on top of industry trends, and get ideas about how to help more people get on the water. There are some people doing great things in boating podcasts but when I didn’t find exactly what I was looking for, I started my own. I am thrilled at the caliber of guests I have been able to speak with and the feedback we have gotten from boaters and soon-to-be boaters has been very positive.”

Each episode is complimented by a show notes blog post recapping the conversation highlights and full of links to great boating information. It is syndicated on www.MyBoatLife.com bringing it to a wider, established audience of boating enthusiasts.
